JuMP! offers an innovative, whole person approach to relieving pain, improving motion and enhancing your body’s function. After your diagnosis, treatments will target the cause of your symptoms with gentle, non-invasive manipulation of your joints, muscles and connective tissues.
Quick recovery, reduced inflammation, increased range of motion and strength are some of the main treatment benchmarks. But the goal is swift, sustainable improvements in your daily living and recreational activities.
JuMP! employs a customized blend of manual orthopaedic therapy, Integrative Manual Therapy, myofascial release, muscle energy techniques, lymph drainage, acupressure and craniosacral therapy to speed up your body’s natural healing processes. Hands-on methods include direct techniques and also indirect techinques, which relax and unwind tissues in the direction of ease to restore optimal function. Relaxation, meditation on healing, and the sense of caring conveyed by touch are also important parts of the JuMP! healing process.
JuMP! Diagnostics
Your initial JuMP! visit includes a patient interview, mobility testing and hands-on diagnostic techniques. We’ll document your personal health history and set treatment goals to improve your range of motion, strength, function and to relieve pain. To build your customized treatment plan, your anatomic and physiological systems are investigated independently and in relation to each other. Often a seemingly local problem may be the result of a systemic dysfunction. JuMP! also measures your inherent body rhythms to assess your nervous, fascial and circulatory systems, as they relate to your injury or condition.
What problems respond well to JuMP! Treatments?
JuMP! physiotherapy works for everything from the body stresses caused by aging and every day life to more specific problems such as repetitive strain injuries and sports related dysfunction. It can be very effective in:
reducing or eliminating pain
recovering from injury
improving circulation
increasing joint mobility
boosting immune system functioning
improving body awareness
reducing depression and anxiety
There are also preventative benefits to JuMP! therapy. By improving the systems that affect healing and cellular maintenance and increasing your activity levels, you will be more resistant to disease, dysfunction and re-injury. The only thing better than a swift recovery is to avoid the problem in the first place!
How long will you need treatment?
Every person is different, so it is not possible to predict how many treatments you will require. Serious and long-standing conditions take longer to treat than minor or newly acquired ones. Age is a factor in healing speed. Your attitude also plays a vital role.
If symptoms decrease after the first treatment, it is recommended you complete a course of treatment (6-8 weeks). It will help to balance your body’s systems and prevent a recurrence of the disorder. Normally, improvements are noted after about three sessions. In all cases, goal-setting and continual monitoring is used to ensure progress.
Reactions following a treatment
Once treatment has finished, you will feel relaxed and perhaps warmer, because of stimulated blood circulation. Depending on your condition and prescribed treatment, you may also feel the effects of your body correcting itself, getting rid of toxic substances and even the short-lived flare-up of past suppressed conditions. The severity of the healing reaction depends upon the person. Plenty of fluids and a good night’s rest is the best way to deal with any possible after effects. Your first JuMP! session is on the gentle side, to observe reactions and better tailor your treatment to your needs.
Are JuMP! treatments covered by OHIP?
JuMP! Physiotherapy treatments are not covered under OHIP. Physiotherapy for Ontarians aged 20 to 64 is NOT covered by OHIP, except under the following conditions:
You require physiotherapy after overnight hospitalization
You require services in your home or you reside in a long-term care home.
You are a recipient under the Ontario Disability Support Program, Family Benefits or Ontario Works.
All other people aged 20 to 64 will not receive OHIP coverage for physiotherapy.
However, if you have private insurance, check to see if your plan has coverage for physiotherapy. A doctor’s referral is often required to qualify for such coverage. Please check with your provider.
Do you need a doctor’s referral to come to physiotherapy?
A referral from your doctor is not required to receive physiotherapy. Some private insurance companies require a doctor's referral before providing coverage. It is best to check your personal plan.
How long will your appointment take?
Your initial appointment will last 90 minutes and includes a review of your symptoms and relevant medical history, mobility testing and goal setting. The remainder of the session is devoted to hands-on diagnostics and initial treatment. Follow-up sessions are one hour.

Integrative Manual Therapy
IMT is a unique form of physiotherapy that restores your body to its healthy state at the cellular level. First developed in the 1970s, it is quickly gaining in popularity around the world. As practiced by a registered physiotherapist at JuMP!, it is blended with other mainstream and holistic techniques for maximum effect.
Myofascial restrictions occur from trauma, surgery and inflammatory processes related to use and aging. By releasing tissues in the direction of ease of movement, IMT eliminates blockages to restore your health. It primarily addresses the musculoskeletal system with a combination of structural and functional manual rehabilitation techniques. Together they stimulate your body’s natural powers of immunity and recuperation.
